financial advice at UEA
advice(su) and UEA Student Support Service financial advisers know that it is hard to stretch your limited resources to cover all of your outgoings. We both provide a confidential service giving students the opportunity to discuss financial issues that are causing stress and distracting them from their studies. Here is a guide to where to go for help.
Both services can issue Food Bank vouchers for students in short term crisis.
We can help with budgeting advice and debt issues, where appropriate signposting to specialist external debt advice. We can advise on eligibility for benefits and how to claim. We direct students to the Student Support Service for hardship fund enquiries and general student funding advice.
Student Support Service
Advice on Student Funding
Whether it is from Student Finance or the NHS, Student Support Services can help to ensure that students receive their full funding entitlement; we can also advise on the financial implications of changing courses, withdrawing or taking time out from study.
Student Support offer one-to-one money advice to help students budget; access their interactive budgeting tool on their website under Budgeting and Money Management:

Student Support administer a short-term loan facility (Vice-Chancellor’s Hardship Fund Loan) to help students with cash flow emergencies. This facility provides an interest-free loan of up to £300 to students not in debt to the University.
Student support provide information on funding sources outside the University, including Postgraduate funding opportunities, to help students in their search for additional support.
