the hotspots in norwich you need to check out

Hi everyone!

Moving to Norwich is an exciting new adventure and we want you to get to know your new home. Google can be helpful but, as someone who’s lived here for a few years now, I thought I’d put together a little list of nice places to go!

  • Lake: What can’t you do at the lake? You can sunbathe, do some work in the sun, kick a ball around and even get cooking with our bookable BBQs.

  • Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts: There is something for everyone in this beautiful centre. If you’re an art fanatic, then there's many exhibitions for you to explore. If you just fancy somewhere different for your coffee and breakfast then this is a great, quiet place to relax or even do your work. Most importantly though, it is the set for Avengers HQ from the big blockbuster Marvel films.

  • Colney Lane: Once you have ventured all the way to the end of Chancellors Drive, you’ll be met by the sport grounds known as Colney Fortress. This is the place to be on a Wednesday afternoon, you can see our sports teams such as Rugby, Lacrosse and Football playing in their BUCS leagues. Make sure to go down and support your teams!

  • Eaton Park: The park that is just off campus is a beautiful change of scenery. There are pitches for you to play sports on and a café for you to grab a bite to eat. A popular feature of Eaton Park is the pitch and putt, so grab some friends and let the competitions begin.

  • The Birdcage area: The Birdcage is a really nice bar to just chill out in and have a few drinks, but the surroundings are just as amazing. Famous fish and chip shop, some grass to sit out in the sun and little streets with the cutest shops to browse!

  • Carrow Road: If you are into your football, then you have come to Norwich at just the right time as our home club Norwich City F.C. is now in the Premier League, get ready to paint the town in green and yellow!

  • Norwich market: Right in the centre of town is the market, it is open Monday to Saturday, so you’ll never miss out. There is something for everyone with the wide range of stalls, but the food stalls in particular are incredible. Norwich market was even named the best large outdoor market in the country in January 2019.

  • Norfolk broads: While this one is a bit further out, the trip is worth it. You can hire a boat and set sail; you will be able to explore the beauty of the broads in style.

So what are you waiting for? Go and hit up these hotspots!
