Become a Buddy Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, build up your CV, learn new skills and improve the ones you have. At uea(su), we like to provide volunteering opportunities for you as students and many of our services and events simply wouldn't be the same without our amazing volunteers.

This Mental Health Awareness Week the theme is stress, and last year we introduced a scheme to help first years transitioning to University – one of the most stress inducing periods students face. This was the Buddy Scheme, and this year buddy(su) is getting bigger and better, but we can't do it without you.

If you will still be a student in September, you can apply to be a buddy volunteer and take a fresher under your wing in the new academic year. Being a buddy volunteer will allow you to take part in training and become part of a network of buddy volunteers, as well as helping a new student settle in. First year buddies only run for the autumn semester, so the role will not interfere with exam revision or deadlines. We are currently recruiting volunteers for next year, and would love to be able to pair up as many buddies as possible.
