Back in February, I wrote a blog updating you on the results of the Alcohol Impact survey we ran to gauge an understanding of drinking culture at UEA. We're working towards the NUS Alcohol Impact Award to support students to build responsible drinking habits and a healthy relationship with alcohol.
As part of this scheme, we're training all our bar staff in issues around alcohol consumption and we're thrilled to have been recently awarded a GOLD 'Best Bar None' accreditation for our licensed premises (blue bar, red bar and scholars bar). We've also run stalls in the Hive explaining units and measures of alcohol and we're working with the University to develop a 'campus crew' scheme. This will employ students to support other students in need on LCR nights; making sure they get water and get home safely.
There's still more to do, however, and so here we are displaying a joint statement from UEA and uea(su) which demonstrates our commitment to working together on student health and wellbeing issues around alcohol.
