Take 5 is a humanities funded student led wellbeing initiative that takes place 3 times a week, open to all students.
It is run by 2 student interns Robyn and Toby (and Ice the akita) and it offers the students of UEA a chance to take 5 and reflect on their mental health and low-level wellbeing support.
The main session is on Wednesdays 2-4pm in Arts 01.03 where you can play on the Nintendo switch, do arts and crafts, pet a therapy dog, talk to a wellbeing advisor and make friends! In addition to this, on Mondays from 7-9pm in arts 01.05 ‘Monday Night Magic and Mystery’ takes place which is full of fun games in a friendly and supportive environment and ‘Friday Night Films’ takes place every Friday in Arts 01.02 from 7-9pm.
You can also volunteer to help run the Take 5 sessions, a great opportunity to broaden your skills, boost your CV and get involved in community wellbeing.
*Trigger Warning: Bereavement*
From a personal point of view ‘Take 5’ helped me a lot when my friend Nick died, and it helped me with my recovery and healing process. I found everyone there super friendly and supportive and whether you are struggling with your mental health and wellbeing or not it is a great relaxing place to take a break from the stresses of academia and other pressures in life.
Now, let me introduce you to Robyn and Toby...
