We want to give you the power to make more decisions and to tell us when things need to be better.
We are conducting a Democracy Review in 2020 to analyse our systems and processes, and make it easier for you to engage with them.
Over the years UEASU ha grown and changed. With this, we are constantly looking at how we can improve how we represent you as our members. A Big part of this is reviewing how our democracy works. To do this, we are running a democracy review that will look at, and assess our current democratic structures and the culture underpinning them, and make recommendations with a goal of ensuring you are at the heart of every decision we make.
- Did you know that uea(su) is run and lead by students, for students?
- Did you know as a UEA student, you are automatically a member of the SU?
- If you don’t, you’re probably not the only one!
Students have a lot of power at the Students' Union – in fact, they have all the power! It’s hard to get it right when we’re trying to represent 17,000 students, but we know we could be making it easier for you to talk to us.
We know that UEA students are busy, and we also know that we’ve been doing things the same way for a long time. When you have back to back lectures, a part-time job, essays to write, children to care for, jobs to apply for, a social life to maintain – who has time for old and tired ‘governance procedures’?!
But the SU is here for you and run by you, so we need to make it easy for you to use your power as a student to shape your University.
