Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 15:30
Activity description: Clearing paths
Meeting place: At the junction of Brazen Gate and Queens Road Norwich, opposite the main bus station. Wait for the minibus under the glass-covered walkway outside the big Sainsbury's.
Activity location: Lion Wood, car park off William Meer Gardens Walk into wood, and look for steps, NR1 4AN.
Lion Wood is an ancient woodland which has been designated an Urban Local Nature Reserve. It was once part of Thorpe Wood - which is mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086 - so the wood was already established over a thousand years ago. It covers 12 hectares (roughly) and is nestled between several residential areas - stretching from telegraph Lane (ajoining the Telegraph Plantation) on it's west side to Pilling Park on it's east and running between Wellesley Avenue South and North.
