PGRrunners a beginners running group for PGRs

Never run before or even jogged? Ever wondered if running could be for you? Tried running in the past, but are not sure if you’d still be able to? This is the group for you.

PGRunners is a brand new running group for Postgraduate Researchers aimed at complete beginners, or those who haven’t run for some time.

The group will meet on Wednesday mornings at 9:00am outside the SportsPark and will follow a Couch to 5K programme with a target of eventually completing the Colney Parkrun based on campus. Our first session will be on Wednesday 30th January.

The sessions will include warm ups and cool downs with running activities very much pitched at the level and interest of the members of the group. There will be the opportunity to chat to other researchers about life, your research and running, alongside experiencing the physical and psychological benefits of running with others in the surroundings of our lovely campus. Participation is FREE- just come in comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for running.

The group will be led by Zoë Jones from the Learning Enhancement Team (LET). As well as being a tutor for LET, Zoë is also a postgraduate researcher on the Doctorate in Education programme. She is a qualified Running Fitness Leader and enthusiastic about sharing her passion for running with others.

The group will be managed through the Run Together ( site and you will need to register with the site before joining the runs. More information about the PGRunners webpage will be available soon.
