PhDiggers is a gardening group set up by the uea(su) Courage Project to get green-thumbed postgraduates planting!
Finally, it's here! PhDiggers is ready to start work on one of our two exciting gardening projects: the rejuvenation of the walled garden by Earlham Hall. Built in 1642 and refurbished in 2014, Earlham Hall is looking better than ever, but the small walled garden adjacent to it is in need of a bit of TLC.
The Courage Project and the Estates Team have joined together to provide keen outdoorsy postgraduates and total newbie gardeners alike the opportunity to shape the gardens into a tranquil Silent Space - a place for quiet reflection and peace in solitude.
We have four initial PhDiggers sessions set up for the Silent Space project - Thursday 9th May; Friday 10th May; Thursday 16th May; and Friday 17th May. The first two sessions will be for tidying the space, weeding, and general maintenance. The second two dates will be for planting! Members of Estates and the Courage Project will be supervising, refreshments will be provided, and there is no expectation for PhDiggers to stay for the full four hour slot we have booked, so don't feel daunted!
What Do I Need to Do?
We have a maximum limit of 10 PhDiggers working in the garden at once. To book a space, click the (free) ticket link above! You will then be contacted with a form asking you to specify which timeslots over the course of the four-hour day you will be in attendance for. This way, we can ensure that certain times are not too overbooked!
Once you know what time you're booked in for, just bring yourself, some comfy clothes (that you don't mind getting muddy!), and a packed lunch. We're looking forward to seeing you there!
