Welcome to the UEA Climbing Club, one of the biggest clubs on campus!
Climbing is a perfect club to join if you want to challenge yourself, make a great new bunch of friends and push past your boundaries of what you’re capable of.
Climbers of all abilities are welcome, most people who join the club have never climbed before. All members are trained to the highest safety standards and all equipment is provided for members during weekly sessions and climbing trips.
Session times* are:
Monday: 3 to 5pm
Wednesday: 3 to 5pm
Friday: 7 to 10pm
Sunday: 4 to 6pm
(All members are welcome at any session regardless of ability)
*Subject to change
Session are open to only members and are free of charge for members.
We also run weekly indoor bouldering trips to Highball Climbing Center (the other climbing centre in Norwich, by the airport). These usually happen on Wednesday evenings and transportation is free for members. (http://highballclimbingnorwich.com/)
We have many different outdoor trips organised throughout the year to the Peak District, Wales, Lake district or Cheddar Gorge, during weekends. There will be beginner trips, experienced trips as well as mixed ability trips.
Finally, each year we run a week-long trip to the Isle of Portland (Dorset), in June, and a week-long abroad trip in July. In previous years we've gone to France, Germany and Switzerland.
All trips are heavily subsidised by the club.
When we're not thinking about rocks, we like to organise fun events; these have ranged from bowling to pub crawls, roller discos to BBQs, and everything in between. With regular socials every few weeks and a mix of sober and 'not so sober' events, there's something for everyone. Ultimately, we love to socialise and are all about hanging around and having fun both on and off the wall.

If you don't have any climbing background, the club provides training by qualified instructors free of all costs! Once you have purchased your memership and SAM, you can sign up for a training session at the link below:
Full description is on the document. After training, if you feel confident with the skills, you will need to book an assessment at Sportspark reception, which will cost you £5. Once, this is out of the way, you're good to climb without supervision during sessions and you can come to as many sessions as you wish during the week.
When you become a member, you receive a welcome email which will have all the details you need.
We don't hold regular taster sessions, if you want to give climbing a go, you can attend a drop-in session at Sportspark. This is on Wednesdays 1-3pm and you can find more information by contacting them directly.
