Welcome to UEA Surf Club!

UEA Surf is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is interested in surfing to join an inclusive, active and above all sociable, friendly club! We welcome all abilities - from those of you who are already shredding gnarly waves to those who haven't ever picked up a board! Many of our members start as beginners and develop their surfing skills through lessons, swim training, trips across the UK and our infamous yearly trip abroad! MAIN EVENTS!

BUCS! Each year, in the first semester, UEA Surf Club competes against universities across the UK down at the iconic surfing location of Fistral Beach in Newquay. Nearly 400 competitors take part each year... perhaps this year it could be you!

SURF AND YOGA TRIP! Surfing and yoga make the perfect match... that's why every autumn we team up with the amazing people over at UEA Yoga and take a trip to Croyde, North Devon to combine our love of waves and relaxation in a trip that's so good we just can't stop going back!

THE INTERNATIONAL TRIP! Previous destinations have included Morrocco, Fuertaventura, and Portugal so the Easter trip is the highlight of our yearly calendar with each trip including surf lessons, sunshine, and lots of non-surfy activities too such as yoga, snorkeling, hiking and plenty of time sunbathing! Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2020 trip!

WEEKLY SWIM TRAINING! Being a good surfer requires you to be a strong swimmer and to get to grips with paddling techniques, so we train as a club every Tuesday in the Sportpark swimming pool, improving our technique, encouraging and learning from each other and getting to know each other as a club! This gives us chance to spend time together every week whilst also becoming better surfers, and usually leads to a social later in the evening too!

WEEKLY STRENGTH & CONDITIONING TRAINING! As well as weekly swim training sessions, we now hold Strength & Conditioning sessions every Tuesday from 18:00-19:00 in the Congregation Hall to help with improving our fitness and working on body strength, to make those popups as smooth as they can be!

CROMER SURF LESSONS! Don't know how to surf? Don't fear! Thanks to the proximity of Glide surf school in Cromer we offer a surf lesson package at the beginning of each year at around £75 for three 2 hour lessons so everyone can learn to surf!

SOBER SOCIALS! We appreciate there are many people who would rather not drink, so we run many socials that do not involve alcohol; including BBQs with other clubs, trips to the trampolining centre and beach cleans in conjunction with some of UEA's environmental societies and the charity Surfers Against Sewage, as we care deeply about protecting the oceans that we love and depend upon!
