Code of Conduct and Bye-Laws
All students are members of the union, and we expect all members to abide by our Code of Conduct.
The Code sets out the procedures to be followed in the case of disciplinary action against an individual member. The code concerns the disciplinary rules and procedures that operate within the Union. The Union believes that rules and procedures are necessary for promoting orderly relations as well as fairness and consistency in the treatment of individuals.
It is vital that you are aware of the Code, and ensure that you are following the Code.
Further to this, everything the Union does is guided by and has to be in line with our Articles of Association (our Constitution), and Bye-Laws,. In these documents you can find guidelines and rules about everything from clubs and societies to our Trustee Board.
If you think that we should be doing things differently, you can suggest changes to the Articles of Association and Bye-laws through Union Council or by organising a campaign to hold a Referendum.
Bye-Law 9 is the law that relates to societies, clubs and peers support group, and outlines the rules around committees and democracy within student groups, so it is important that you are aware of this. To find Bye-Law 9 click here.
