The Graduate Centre is the upstairs space within Union House that is dedicated to Postgraduate and Mature Undergraduate Students. This space consists of: Scholars Bar, Scholars Lounge, the Graduate Kitchen, and two bookable study rooms. The Graduate Centre is managed by the Graduate Centre Manager.
Space is a huge issue on campus, and at most UK higher Education Institutions. With student numbers increasing, and no plans to increase space in the short-term there is an impasse. Thus, having a dedicated space for postgraduates is a vital resource for socialising and to have more informal academic meetings.
Postgraduate students recently had their say about who they feel should be able to access the graduate centre. A huge majority of students chose to have exclusive access for postgraduates. They also felt that campus card readers are the best way to enforce this.
