Open Conversation Workshops

Now more than ever we understand the importance of being a union that is for all of our students. Whilst Black students were the most likely to feel part of a community at UEA (71%), only 29% indicated that they felt like a community at uea(su), and that’s something that needs to change.

We’re using this open conversation series to make sure we have a better understanding of the barriers that may be stopping Black students from getting involved in the Union, as well as a way to critically evaluate our structures and offering.

We want to work collaboratively with you to make sure that Black students feel like uea(su) is an environment in which they can thrive in, feel represented and create a community in.

The fact that we’ve only had 7 Black students in leadership positions in the last eight years is a statistic that we don’t want to see continue for the next eight years.

If you would like to get involved, then register your interest here:

The first workshop will be taking place on 1st December 2020
