Student Volunteering with St John Ambulance

• We offer weekly training sessions every Monday 6.30pm-8.30pm in C.Hall 01.20 covering all aspects of first aid, volunteering and event first aid opportunities. Our sessions provide lots of opportunities for hands on experience to practice everything from basic first aid skills to airway management in a safe and practical environment
  
  
  We're also a student volunteering unit operating as part of St John Ambulance, the nation's leading first aid charity. Our University unit provide amazing cover right here on campus at all of the clubnights, gigs, open days and more! We also get involved with bigger events like football, the London Marathon, Notting Hill Carnival and Pride!

  Student-led
  Teaching

  Weekly training runs with an introductory presentation led by someone on committee – we’re all students but also part of St John Ambulance and trained as First Aiders, Advanced First Aiders and all the way up to Ambulance Crew

  Interactive
  Training

  We break off into smaller groups during training so that you have the chance to go at your own pace and practice as much as you want, with support, guidance and the occasional Kahoot (which we take very seriously!)

  Casualty
  Simulation 

  Large casualty simulations in the LCR are a great way to practice skills in the most realistic environment possible. Smaller scenarios in weekly training mean you can practice what you just learnt in a safe enviornment

  St John Ambulance Qualification

  We run recruitment alongside St John Ambulance in the Autumn semester where you can become a Unit member
  and join us out on events!

  Hands on
  Experience

  Unit members provide medical cover where they assess and treat patients at events, with the opportunity to manage teams and gain higher clinical skills with more experience and training

  Helping the
  Community

  St John Ambulance is a charity found across the country and regularly steps up in the community;  everything from local village fairs to supporting the NHS with the national Covid-19 response
