Our Main Events:
The Welcome Social
The welcome social is a great opportunity to meet other members of the society as well as your committee. The last few years we have had a bar crawl through Norwich enabling freshers can get to know the area, before heading back to either the LCR or into town for the official Fresher's events. We are usually able to negotiate some amazing drinks deals too. Due to social distancing, this year we are running multiple online welcome taster sessions, including a meet and greet and quiz, and potentially something bigger after fresher's week, so keep your eyes peeled on social media! It's always an enjoyable night and is a great kick start to the year!
The Winter Ball
One of our main annual events is our winter ball, a formal evening in the city to celebrate the end of the first semester.
We have previously held this event at Mr Postles Apothecary and Cuba Revolucion with food and drinks deals, with a photographer capturing the event. This SELLS OUT and is a great way to finish the first semester. Depending on social distancing rules, this event may be run differently from previous years, but we will let you know!
End of Year BBQ
During third semester we head down to the lakeside and have a BBQ to celebrate our achievements over the year and to de-stress after exams! It is also a great way to get to know the new committee for the next academic year.
Staff, postgraduates and families all usually attend the event and it's a lovely way to say goodbye to UEA for a few months as the academic year comes to an end.
The Summer Ball
The Summer Ball is one of the highlights of the year. Previously being held at Carrow Road Stadium, The Assembly House and Rooftop Gardens, this is THE event of the year. We have previously included photographers, performances by the UEA Jazz collective and photobooths with props!
Being able to dress up and celebrate the years achievements and successes always leads to a successful night. As always, photos from previous years can be found on the Facebook. Hopefully by next summer, social distancing rules will be relaxed and this social can be run as normal!
We also run a number of sober socials throughout the year for those who don't drink and everyone who wants to do something different! In the past we have organised trips to the trampoline park, meals, and more recently we have run documentary screenings which have been a huge success. In future we are planning on following social distancing rules by doing online nights, such as quizzes, joint film/documentary viewing, talks and even videocall get togethers!
ENV Soc Sweatshirts
We have personalised merchandise available to purchase throughout the year. These have the logo embroided on the front and the option to personalise with your name/nickname/course! These get released a couple of times over the academic year, so keep checking our SU page for details and availability!
Socially Distanced Socials
This coming year we are introducing many different socially distanced socials, including walks, movie and documentary nights, online chats, quizzes and events as well as many more!
Every year we take part in the University wide Ziggurat Challenge. We aim to improve our turn out and results every year, but it is a brilliant way to meet other people in the faculty and try a new sport in an informal way! Head over to ueasport for information on the whole event or check the Facebook page for updates on which challenge is happening next.
Email us any questions you may have at firstname.lastname@example.org, and make sure you join us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to view our upcoming socials, images from socials as well as giving us suggestions/taking part in polls!
(Due to social distancing measures, we may not be able to do certain socials or provide the jumpers, but we will try our best to keep you updated!)
