Our Main Events:

The Welcome Social

Taking place on campus, the welcome social is a great opportunity to meet other members of the society as well as your committee. The last two years we have had a bar crawl through Norwich enabling freshers can get to know the area, before heading back to either the LCR or into town for the official Fresher's events.

It's always a successful night, we have had themes ranging from safari to 50 shades of green! This year we hosted our Around the World bar crawl, introducing the many sites of pubs and bars in the city centre to freshers, with their own passport to accompany them on their travels. It was a hugely successful night to kick start the year!

The Winter Ball

One of our main annual events is our winter ball, a formal evening in the city to celebrate the end of the first semester.

The past two years we have held this event at Mr Postles Apothecary with food and drinks deals, with a photographer capturing the event. We are in the process of planning this years Christmas social, keep an eye on social media for more details to be released soon!

End of Year BBQ

During third semester we head down to the lakeside and have a BBQ to celebrate our achievements over the year and to de-stress after exams! It is also a great way to get to know the new committee for the next academic year.

Last year we were also joined by staff and postgraduate members from the School of Environmental Sciences as we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the school. Photos are on the Facebook page!

The Summer Ball

The Summer Ball is one of the highlights of the year. Previously being held at Carrow Road Stadium in 2017 and The Assembly House in 2018 this is THE event of the year. We have previously included photographers, performances by the UEA Jazz collective and photobooths with props!

Being able to dress up and celebrate the years achievements and successes always leads to a successful night. As always, photos from previous years can be found on the Facebook.

Sober Socials

We also run a number of sober socials throughout the year for those who don't drink and everyone who wants to do something different! In the past we have organised trips to the trampoline park, meals, and more recently we have run documentary screenings which have been a huge success.

We have screenings of Sir David Attenborough's Dynasties in Autumn 2018. These will be screened live in the union, and dates will be released soon on our social media, and FREE tickets will be available from the SU soon! Keep your eyes peeled!

ENV Soc Sweatshirts

We have personalised merchandise available to purchase throughout the year. These have the logo embroided on the front and the option to personalise with your name/nickname/course on the back! These get released every few months, so keep checking our SU page for details and availability!

Documentary Screenings

After successfully screen the entire series of Blue Planet II at the end of 2017, our sober socials will now include screening various ENV related documentaries. The highlight for Autumn 2018 will be the new series Dynasties hosted by Sir David Attenborough, details to be announced soon! We are also planning to join up with the Documentary Society to bring things to you, if you have any particular requests please let us know!

Ziggurat Challenge

Every year we take part in the University wide Ziggurat Challenge. We aim to improve our turn out and results every year, but it is a brilliant way to meet other people in the faculty and try a new sport in an informal way! Head over to ueasport or check the Facebook page for updates on which challenge is happening next.
