What is Do Something Different?
Do Something Different is an extracurricular programme delivered by
uea(su) and UEA, to enhance your time at university. Whether you want to try out a new
activity, explore somewhere new, or take a break from your studies, there is a Do Something
Different activity that will work for you.
Why get involved?
Whether you choose to host your own event or come along to one of ours,
there are lots of reasons to get involved and Do Something Different. We offer activities to
keep you active or focusing on mental wellbeing for when life starts to feel overwhelming or
stressful, as well as workshops and trainings to boost your CV and get you ready for post
university life. We have something for everyone! Arts and Crafts, Sports or Gaming, whatever
it is our activities are fun and (most of the time) FREE!

Run Your Own Do Something Different Event!
All clubs and societies can run their own Do Something Different event, and can apply for up to
£50 of funding to help put this event on. If you want to run a Do Something Different
event, the event has to be open to all UEA students, not just your members. Follow the steps
below to help you put on your event.
Step 1: Complete and submit your documents
To ensure your Do Something Different event is approved by the Union, you must:
Step 2: Promote your event
The best way to promote your event to students is by creating an event on the SU website. For
help on making the event on the SU website, see this
guide. Make sure you tag your event with the DoSomethingDifferent button to ensure
it shows up on the Do Something Different calendar. We can also promote your event on the DSD
Instagram via Instagram stories. If you tag @uea_dsd and @uea_su we will repost it.
Step 3: Run your event!
Now it's time to run your event! Make sure when running your event you implement all the
measures you included on your risk assessment. You should also make sure you’ve got
everything you need to run the event a few days prior to ensure you're prepared and ready to
go.
