Dr Mena Fombo will join us for an exciting new talk sharing her story of becoming an activist, learning the rules of the game for survival, only to then break the rules for success.

Discussing themes ranging from racism and sexism to power and privilege, Mena will also be taking your questions.

Dr Mena Fombo is the co founder of Blak Wave Productions, one of the only Black Owned TV production companies in the South West UK. She is the founder of Black Girl Convention supporting large events for womxn* and girls of African and Caribbean heritage and the co director of Bristol African Caribbean Culture Space - a new black arts venue barge to be located in Bristol Harbour.

She is also a global speaker and an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion consultant championing values led equitable practice across the creative sector. In 2017 she became a TEDxBristol speaker with the thought proving No. You Cannot Touch My Hair campaign and talk of the same name.

She is the International ambassador for the city of Bristol, holds an honorary doctorate for work in equalities from University West England Bristol and in 2019 she was Bristol 24/7’s woman of the year!
