PGRunners

a low-pressure, all abilities running group for PGR students

Are you a Postgraduate Researcher looking for a low-commitment, judgement-free running group? PGRunners is here for you!

PGRunners is a running group for Postgraduate Researchers aimed at those completely new to running - although all levels of experience are welcome!

We meet on Wednesday mornings at 9:00am outside the UEA Sportspark and encourage a "run at a pace that suits you" ethos. The sessions include warm ups and cool downs, with running activities pitched at the level and interest of the members of the group. They are also completely FREE! Just be sure to come along in comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for running.

How to sign up:

1. Join our RunTogether group to find out when our next runs are - and so we know to expect you! Click here.

2. Join our Microsoft Teams group message to meet your fellow PGRunners! Click here!

3. Simply show up ready to run at a pace that suits you!

The story so far:

PGRunners began in January 2019 as a weekly Couch to 5k running group. After just nine weeks, a small group of PGRunners completed their first ever Parkrun at Colney Lane in April 2019! Now it's the academic year 2019/20 and PGRunners is still going strong! It's the perfect time to join!

PGRunners has been set up in conjunction with the Courage Project - an initiative working to improve PGR mental health and wellbeing at the University of East Anglia. We hope this group will act as a good opportunity to chat to other researchers about life, your research, and exercise, as well as experience the physical and psychological benefits of running with others in a welcoming setting.

The group is led by Zoe Jones from the Learning Enhancement Team (LET). As well as being a tutor for LET, Zoe is also a Postgraduate Researcher on the Doctorate in Education programme. She is a qualified Running Fitness Leader and enthusiastic about sharing her passion for running with others.
