Get running with the new UEA Parkrun

If it's your New Years' resolution to take up a new sport or do more exercise, the new UEA Parkrun at Colney Lane is a great place to get started.

The inaugural run back in December had almost 300 runners and it would be fantastic to see this number go up in 2018. Parkruns have been growing in popularity in Norwich, with numbers at the two existing runs at Eaton Park and Catton Park rising rapidly and leading to the creation of the UEA run.

These events are free and open to everyone or any age, from complete beginners to seasoned runners, whether you want to run, jog or walk. The scenic 5km route is right on the doorstep of the UEA campus; starting and finishing at the Colney Lane sports pavilion and going around the Colney Lane playing fields.

Active Norfolk and UEA+Sport were involved in the setting up of the new parkrun and it would be great to see more students getting involved, either as runners or volunteers. As the runs are free, the events rely on volunteers to make them happen. If running isn't your thing, volunteering is a great opportunity to get involved anyway and meet new people. If you'd like to take part in a Parkrun, register before your first run on the website to receive your unique barcode that will allow your times to be recorded.
