it's this girl can week!

We’re half way through This Girl Can Week and what a week it’s been so far!

what is it?

This Girl Can is a testament to the talent, strength and independence of women across the country, and together, UEA sport and uea(su) have been using this week to celebrate women being active.

A series of free events called “Girls Just Wanna” has been created for ALL UEA students (of all genders) to get involved with in celebration of This Girl Can. It’s been incredible to see so many of you already getting involved over the last couple of days, so let's keep up the momentum for the rest of the week!

On Monday and Tuesday, we had students and staff taking part in “Girls Just Wanna BE STRONG” with the help of Judo and MMA, “Girls Just Wanna PlAY” with netball, “Girls Just Wanna ZUMBA”, and “Girls Just Wanna RELAX”.

there's more...

On top of these fantastic events, we also have an incredible 30 events running alongside the “Girls Just Wanna” series. We want our UEA This Girl Can Week to inspire and empower students to get active, and we want you to know that it is never too late to try a sport and to get involved. Therefore, our clubs are running a variety of events throughout the week which will be open for all students, of all abilities, so it's a great opportunity to try something new!

We’ve already had a very successful couple of days! On Monday and Tuesday, we had lots of students who are both new to sport, and already members of a sport, come to the sessions run by fencing, baseball & softball, gymnastics, cheer dance and tae kwon do. Thank you to everyone who came and volunteered to help with the events!

Still to come, we’ve got everything from dance performances, to Triathlon Turbo, to karate. There’s something for everyone! See the full timetable of events below, and please bear in mind that all activities marked with an asterisk will mean that you should book to get a place.
