A welcome to our new CEO

Welcome back! I hope you are all getting into the swing of things on your return. This is just a quick update to tell you that we have a newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Students’ Union! As many of you will know, over the last few months we have been in the process of recruitment for this role, and I am delighted to announce the appointment of our new CEO Toby Cunningham. Toby has been the acting CEO for the last few months and will now take up the role permanently. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from his 9 years at UEA Students’ Union in various roles, and for many of those years has been deputy chief executive.

Toby Cunningham:

“I have been at UEA (off and on) since 1992 and worked for students’ unions in a variety of roles sine 1994.  I am honoured and proud to be invited by the Board to lead the Union on the next stage of our journey.  The HE sector is in a state of flux and we are likely to see some rapid changes following the Auger report due in the spring, these will be challenging times, but I look forward to working with our board, our staff and the University to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.”

We have every confidence that Toby will do a fantastic job in helping us to lead the union going forward.

If you have any questions about the appointment of our new CEO or would like any more information than please do feel free to email me at g.burchell@uea.ac.uk. Have a good week!
